AWARD-WINNING musical theatre group The Zodiac is excited to be bringing the amateur premier of Flashdance The Musical to The Grange Theatre in Northwich in February. The show is based on the 1983 movie of the same name, which follows the story of steelworker Alex Owens as she auditions to get into the prestigious Shipley Academy to follow her dream of becoming a professional dancer.

Originally due to be performed in November 2021, Covid-19 struck a number of cast members last November and the show had to be postponed. It will now run from Wednesday, February 2 to Saturday, February 5.

Chairman of Frodsham based Zodiac Vicky Jones said: "The Flashdance cast is one of the most resilient groups of people I have ever had the privilege to be part of. When the cast and production team were floored by Covid, we had to deal with our disappointment, and get back up and ready for 'take two' just a couple of weeks later, and everyone has worked their leg-warmers off!"

Director and choreographer Jessica Martin added: "This show will be a truly unique experience as the pro-duction team have created it from scratch. We've designed a truly amazing lighting plot and we use not only the stage but also the floor so the audience will feel truly part of the action. With all the issues we've faced since the decision was made to produce this show - lockdowns, illness, having to wear masks, rehearsing in freezing temperatures with windows and doors open to keep our cast safe - it's an even higher achievement for everyone involved. "This is my directorial debut and I couldn't be prouder of every single cast member."

The Zodiac will be performing at The Grange Theatre, Hartford nightly at 7.30pm, with a matinee performance at 2pm on Saturday, February 5. All tickets are £17. To book tickets please go to https://www.thegrangetheatre.com/flashdance
